About the Position:
The Construction Technician is a member of the construction team responsible for completing tasks at construction sites using various hand and power tools including forklifts and skid loaders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install garage landings, handrails and minor hoarding
• Install basement windows
• Install rear door barricades
• Conduct groundwork for construction including clean up, pumping water, prepping ground for concrete.
• Perform minor deficiency repairs and occasional light carpentry work and millwork to fix minor framing deficiencies.
• Provide back up support to Labourers to carry out tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, general site cleaning, etc.
• Maintain site cleanliness, from debris, garbage, snow removal, sweeping and other required work to maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment.
• Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants and remove other hazardous materials from work site.
• Assist with minor equipment maintenance to ensure safe operation, adjust, and move heaters, fans and other equipment required to support construction activities.
• Loading and unloading construction materials and moving them to work areas.
• Assist the Assistant Site Superintendent in carrying out Quality Control/Orientation preparations and deficiencies, touch-ups of paint, cabinets and millwork.
• Assist in the clearing of mud and snow from sidewalks and driveways.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Three (3) or more years of experience as a Labourer or in any similar position on residential construction projects preferred
• Understanding of construction equipment use, maintenance, and operation required
• Intermediate knowledge of framing required to perform minor framing duties such as installing wood stairs, landing, and railing.
• Knowledge of various trade required in general house construction
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints preferred
• A valid class five (5) driver’s license and personal reliable transportation is required.
• Criminal Records Check to the company’s satisfaction is required.
• A clean drivers abstract is required for the operation of company vehicles on public roadways.
• Manual dexterity is required to work with tools and equipment.
• Work is performed at the work site. Remote or Hybrid work not available
