About Us: Ken’s Diner is a 1950s‑inspired eatery located in the heart of Schonsee and operated by Lifestyle Options Retirement Communities. Serving both the public and our Lifestyle Options – Schonsee community, we take pride in using fresh, high‑quality ingredients and offering nutritious daily specials alongside timeless diner classics that appeal to guests of all ages.
The Opportunity: We’re looking for a Second Cook to join our Ken’s Diner team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will prepare high‑quality food efficiently and safely in a fast‑paced kitchen while staying organized, collaborating with the team, and maintaining a strong tolerance for heat.
What you’ll do:
Prepare hot and cold dishes with care, consistency, and great presentation.
Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and standards set by the Head Chef.
Able to prioritize multiple demands while maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy workspace.
Create meals tailored to residents with allergies or dietary needs.
Store, label, and rotate food properly to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
Ensure that the correct quantities are prepared to meet daily needs.
Qualifications:
Two (2) years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen (required).
Basic Food Safety (required).
Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors and at all levels within the organization (required).
Formal training in a culinary program considered an asset.
Experience cooking for seniors as an asset.
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
